Hi
If you support the front of the bike and take the front wheel out, there is a circular bit of metal that goes in to the wheel (near the bearing) and catches on a couple of cutouts on the wheel, and the other 'end' of it sits in a couple of cutouts in the speedo drive.
It is very easy to put the front wheel in place without getting the cutouts aligned. This works for a couple of miles and then no speedo reading
All the best

Hi
Probably not. I assumed the speedo cable had snapped on ours (which is a bit of a pain to change - getting behind the clocks), but it was this drive piece.
To support the bike you can remove the bellypan (easy enough) then carefully use a jack under the front of the engine / frame (depending on the jack, and how secure it is). Note the front mudguard is fairly enveloping of the wheel so the front end needs to be reasonably high to get the wheel out.
All the best

Hi
It should be obvious when you have it in front of you, but difficult to explain. You can see the cutouts when it is in front of you, but the problem is that the speedo drive gearbox will almost go in place (enough to assemble the bike) with it not lined up. I would suggest disconnecting the cable from the drive gearbox while you put everything else together as it gives you a little more free movement
All the best
