They might.

Bennetts got caught at this a few years back, classing everything as a modification and refusing to cover if there were more than three.

They've since adopted a fairly sensible 'accepted as standard' list which includes non-race-rep stickers.

Hilariously though, they want crash protectors declared. No doubt to reduce the premium, right? Rolling Eyes

Unfcukinbeleiveable, she paid £120 for that! Wink

Quote:
The devout Christian paid £120 to adorn her Vauxhall Zafira with the religious stickers

Insurance Co. attempts to wriggle out of payout, shocker!
It's hardly news is it, it happens everyday!

I wonder what qualifies as a modification, in regards to "stickers"?
What about all those pool vehicles with the tyre pressure stickers on the wheel arches or "Diesei Only" stuck near the fuel filler flap?

"Baby on Board", anyone?

The, politically correct, backtracking by the Ins Co, claiming the religious context was not a factor, is laughable!
Confirming your affinity to a particular group, be that religious, football related or otherwise, (by stickering up your vehicle), is surely going to increase the risk depending on where you drive or park up!

In other news:-

Quote:
Insurance premiums to rise by 10% this year

Woohoo! Rolling Eyes

They are both mongs.

Quote:
Reverend Parry, from Cymmer in Neath Port Talbot, told BBC Wales' X-Ray she believes she has been treated unfairly because of her religious beliefs by Age UK insurance.

Where is your God now? Huh?

Most companies actually give you a DISCOUNT for a signwritten vehicle.

From the horses mouth.

A mouthpiece for the Insurance brokers association has Just been on the radio, he stated that:-

Quote:
"adding messages to your vehicle may incite other people to damage your vehicle"

, (or words to that effect).

So the god botherers insurers are talking bollox, it was the religious context they objected to!

The private, enforced, insurance industry is such a load of nonsense. The system is fraught with penny pinching and claim maximisation (on the part of insurers). The industry is in direct conflict with its end customer's best interests.

It really is stunning how countries with controlled or centralised insurance industries run a more efficient and less expensive system, despite the fact that open markets are supposedly the best way to benefit the end customer.

This must be backed up by cause/effect studies of vandal damage correlated with sticker presence (cross-referenced by sticker message, colour, size, location on the vehicle etc).

When quoting for insurance I don't recall ever being asked about any disputes with neighbours, where I shop and where I park, any extra-marital affairs or any other factors also likely to increase the risk of vandalism. I guess they must just make assumptions about these based on where I live and the miles I cover.

Aaaaahahahahaha.... you're funny. To beat the insurance game one must think like an insurance risk assessor. You would only put crash protectors on, uprate your brakes or add more conspicuous lights if you were likely to be at higher risk of crashes and accidents, right? Therefore more please.

Yup. I can only assume (using common sense, Allah help me) that they reckon the box itself will get broken into, and I'll be claiming for the tyre pressure gauge and cable-ties that I've got in there. Brick Wall

Maybe it's the whole potential for causing a speed wobble, leading to loss of control of the vehicle and a crash that they object to?

Just thinking aloud.

Oh noes! I've got a BCF sticker on my car as a homage to Cansa's tattoo.

I've told people it stands for the British Community of Fascists.

No ones damaged my car yet, but a bird did shit on it once, the commie barstard.

It's a lot of noise about nothing, if the real reason was about having symbols or messages on/in your car that may incite someone to damage it then there are a lot of muslims with "Allah" symbols hanging from their rear view mirrors and sikhs with a khanda stuck to their bonnet grill or number plate yet i've not heard any stories about insurers taking issue with this, what about football team flags or stickers surely that's the most likely to incite damage.

This is just one insurer trying it's luck, fortunately for us there are now rules regarding general insurance and reasonable disclosure when taking out a policy, this claim regarding the stickers and extra lighter socket would not be upheld in the event they voided a claim. Technically every time you have an oil change or do any work on the car you are modifying it from standard but it is not reasonable to expect this to be disclosed.

I have a sticker on my topbox that says "No cake is left in this topbox overnight". Surely that should lower my premium...?

Any insurance policy I've had in the last five or so years wanted to know if you require cover to carry a pillion and directly asked about it.

they can load your premium for crash bungs

if your crash bungs go into the front engine mount on a hornet / bandit or similar and you have a big off, the main engine casing can be damaged, effectively writing your bike off depending on age and value

so they think, crash bungs = more likely to cause a total loss

I used to have a white Mini 1000 when I was a teenager a d it was completely covered in graffiti. I wish I had pics it was great. I think the insurance wax about £30 hehee. I used to carry thick permanent marker pens in it and just invite people to write on it. Used to get stopped by plod all the time but they just wanted to check it out and laugh, even when one time the door fell off clown-car styles when they asked me to step oot the vehicle.

As a very strict Atheist man, i couldnt care less about the religious aspect.

What gets my goat is insurance companies, they really are utter blood sucking scumbags.
So quick to take your money and so quick to weasel out in the event you actually need them.

Fucking weasels, death to them all.

Gullible religious type gets stung hugely for stickers.

I wonder if they'd like a huge magic fish sticker for the roof for £30

I was going to fit some crash bungs in the next few weeks but after reading this thread (and listening to the arse biscuit on the radio) decided to call my insurance company. I was told by the lovely lady that by adding crash bungs would incur a £35 administration charge to add 'fitted with frame sliders' on my statements of facts.

.....Bennetts.....

Nope. I specifically asked what the £35 charge was for and was told it wa for modifying the documentation administration costs.
