Hi my ktm duke 125 developed a fault in which the coil would arc itself out on the frame of my bike when damp or wet
it would spark from where the HT leas enters the coil.. it being a complete sealed unit and a non removable lead
would be fine when dry but was a bit of an annoyance when wanting to go anywhere and it start raining while im out or if the roads where damp
I replaced the part with a second hand item off Ebay as the new unit direct form ktm would have been £110 and the unit i bought of ebay cost me a total of £30 after shipping ect...
BUT im thinking would there have been anything i could have done to salvage my old coil if i didn't want to replace?
i still have the coil lying around in a box and i was thinking if the replacement ever failed and i had to use that one would there be any fix i could do to resolve the issues i was having with it ____________________ KTM Duke 125 loving 2 wheels |

It all depends on where the insulation has broken down. If its in the lead.it lead component then its doable . If the the coil insulation has gone then its usually impractible. You ve nothing to lose though, just remember the new insulation must handle a few thousand volts so gaffer or cheap electrical tape won't cut it. ____________________ nearly a normal tax paying tosser.......with ferrileness suzi100,cg125,cb125scb100n,cb175,cd100,cj250t,kh250,c15,125 bantam, super 6,rickman gs750,xt500,250rs,dt175,lifan125,dolomite1850,metro,Morris220ld,morrisfg,leyland princess, range rover, corsa,vw camper .now struggling with legs.
