Oliver continued to slide along the road for another 49ft (15m) past the van, which had been forced to brake so suddenly that it was hit from behind by a following car.

So now the biker is at fault for a muppet following too close and not being able to stop Rolling Eyes

18 month sentences. Shocked

For context, Brian Hampton, the banned uninsured drink-driver who smashed straight into the back of 16 year old pedgirl Jade Clark and then fled the scene received 24 months for killing her.

Suspended, however - while Hampton received a total of 6 years sentence in prison, I believe.

However, yes does seem rather harsh.
I presume he didn't have decent representation - I wonder what the situation would have been if he did have.

Suspended custodial, which is typically conditional on completing any community service and whatever else the judge feels like piling on, like "get caught so much as looking at a bike again and you'll be banged up quicker than you can say 'super-ASBO'".

But only 24 months for the actual driving offence.

Damn man...
Imagine if Brian Hampton were on a bike at the time! They would have had to reinstate capital punishment just to keep everything to scale. Shocked

Most bikers aren't famous nobheads though.
