Chaps, he's saying that he's getting a lower premium with a lower excess.
Because insurance.
Don't try and make sense of it, just sploit it. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

It's all just based on statistics. If people with higher voluntary excesses costs insurance companies more in claims from third parties than people with low excesses do then why would they want to give cheaper prices to the people who cost them more money.
When I last renewed my home insurance it asked about the value of the contents. Errrr well I dunno, it starts on whatever they suggest as the 'average' value of contents for a house of this size in this postcode (30 or 40 something thousand I think it was) and I played around with it from there.
That's interesting... I put it up by a few thousand and the quote gets cheaper. Kept going with that and it turned out £100,000 of contents gave me the cheapest quote. |

Theft counts as your fault, however.
Me pointing this out feels nasty, I don't mean it to be. The risk of theft is the main reason I don't have a very nice bike. I can afford shiny new things, but I not yet willing to pay the associated premiums. So I stick to sub-4k stuff. I don't pay too much attention to cleaning my bikes either for similar reasons.
