Next Sunday.

Guy Martin sets off on a 1000-mile motorbike trip, exploring a rarely-seen side of modern India as he heads to one of the world's maddest bike races, Rider Mania.

Should be interesting, I don't know if it's a one-off or series.

Indian bikers steered him away from a Bullet with a knackered starter. Wink

I quite enjoyed that. Sort of the anti-Charley-Boorman. Available on 4OD soon if you missed it.

Found myself cringing a bit at the overuse of phrases strung together to form sentences. You could also tell when he was faking interest, he's not brilliant at it.

That said, really enjoyed it, the man was well out of his comfort zone and we got to see a little of India which perhaps would have otherwise not been made for mainstream TV consumption.

100%, proper, mega! Thumbs Up

Also, how many of us had Rogerborg on our minds? Did the man feel a Uri Geller, collective ear burn Smile

Really enjoyed the different point of view. It is great when a simple travel programme pops up like this, bike related or not.
It does bring home how basic it is over there and yet there is so much wealth too.

I do get annoyed though when basic, very basic hygiene standards are not put in place on things like the train or the food markets. No wonder the trots are rife.

I didn't get flowers on my Enfield, or incense lit. The chap did spark up a pipe though, that's sort of the same.

Yeah, same, better than top gear. The only thing that gets me is why does the narration have to be so bloody serious. The voice and style of the narration does my head in. It might work if it was another Boreman flick but I really couldn't watch any more of that.

He makes shite tea anyway so he should be used to it.

He puts the milk and teabag in before the hot water!

I do that too - can't abide strong tea and the milk in first stops that. When you drink double + large mugs a day it matters.

if i drank full strength brews, i'd be a jittering mess by mid day Mr. Green

Time to MTFU I feel.

Why put the tea in at all if you're going to do that? You're drinking milky water. It's the hot beverage equivalent of a lager shandy.

My tea mug holds over a pint and I let it brew properly.

So brew it for less time then. I looked into the chemistry of tea brewing a while back (as I am a chemist and a geek); essentially the chemicals that give tea its colour are more soluble than those that give it its flavour. By using water as hot as possible you get more of the flavour out, which is improved further by brewing for longer (to a point). By adding the milk first you cool the whole shebang down and get a (slightly) tea-coloured drink with less of the flavour. As stink says, milky water. Black tea should be brewed with boiling water. Green tea is for cooler water, but that's green tea... Sick

As for the GM thing, I also enjoyed it and having seen some of what he has seen I can get where he is coming from. He has also shown (although not called out specifically) the friendliness and welcoming of many of the people - and the crowds that form. Be white in a largely local community and you will attract a crowd (I suspect having a camera crew will augment this). Not aggressive, not intimidating, just curious and with little else to do.

He has some excuse about some fella telling him it emulsifies in the milk to make it give a better flavour. Or some bollocks like that. Why not go by what you can taste yourself? Tea will not brew in milk ffs!

Enjoyed the program, it was good entertainment.

Not sure why he took the train, it's not character building and it's not a good adventure. It was only 160 miles too, he'd have done it quicker on the bike and probably would have enjoyed the journey a lot more (especially given that he slept for most of it).
