Hi, I'm new year and I don't know a great deal about mopeds but...

I'm 15 and I'm 16 in 2 weeks, I brought my moped about 2 weeks ago, it was all fine and started nicely, it's being kept in the garage, it's cold so I don't know if that affects it. Basically I start it up (all fine) and I pull the throttle (riding on my drive) and it cuts out but when I start it and use the throttle again it's fine? Is this because it's not getting used and its a 2t? It's only recently done this.
Thanks

Try letting it warm up for five minutes before riding it, see if that makes any difference.

Where from?

You're not going to do it any favours by repeatedly starting and running for a few minute at very low throttle openings.

Perhaps if you told us what moped it is, make, model, year, whether it's fuel injection or carbed, auto or manual choke, its mileage, service history and how much it's been dicked around with by its previous owners to eke out another 2mph, we could be more helpful.

What they said ^^^.

Will most likely sort itself out after a decent thrash run. Probably fouling the plug up with what you are doing.

Don't do that.

It's a complete waste of time and fuel (unless it really is a real race bike that's really being used for real competition type riding, really).

A little 2 stroke engine will be 'warm' enough to use after a few seconds. Sufficient 'warm up' time on tha vast majority of road bikes equals starting it, then getting on and fannying about getting it out of wherever you park (driveway/garden/kitchen). If it's not running properly following that, by leaving it to idle to 'warm up' all you're doing is annoying everyone around around you and masking the actual problem.

Judging by username it's probably a Gilera.

Runner / Ice (do they still exist?) / DNA (still a moped!) etc.

Problem with the horribly young is they're a stark reminder of what cantankerous sad old gits most of us are.
