Didn't know which section to put this in so apologies if its wrong. After a lifetime of sports bikes/racing I have just bought a BMW R1150R with a view to kicking back a bit and actually seeing what I am riding past .
I've had a read of the stickies in the section, very interesting.
Does anyone run a Beemer like or similar to this and have any tips or observations about it? (servicing, fuel/oil consumption, things going wrong etc)
It has a top box, any recommendations for other luggage, e.g. tank bag, throw overs (it doesn't have hard luggage fittings and they look expensive unless someone can point me at some).
What tyres are best for this bike? I can do you chapter and verse on supersport tyres but I'm clueless with this type of bike tyre.
The one piece leathers are going to be hung up, what 2 piece all weather, year round gear is decent, never had any before.
Thanks,

If you do go for a tank bag; would highly recommend one of these. Seem to be a bit more expensive at the moment, pretty sure they were going for about £35 last year but still worth the money I would say.
Fully expanded i've had a full face helmet and various other stuff crammed in to the point my chin was almost resting on it riding the ZX6 never needed anything except the magnets to hold it in place either. Only downside is its not waterproof, but it comes with a cover thing which works fine. |
