Hi guys and girls.

Wasn't sure where to post this as I didn't see an 'introduce yourself' thread.

I'm new hear but not new to biking. Had 50's and 100's at 16-19 then had a break before returning to bikes and taking my full test some 15 years ago.

Since then bikes have been my main form of transport and I've been all year/all weather commuter for the past 8 or so years.

Only 18 months ago I bought a car (retro/classic) that was supposed to be for occasional use but ended up using it loads and as a result sold my last bike a few months ago.

Now the hunt it back on to find the perfect commuter.

Here's a quick rundown of my history:

Yamaha DT50 *
Yamaha DT50MX
Kawasaki AR50 *
Suzuki GP100
Yamaha RS100
Yamaha RD400 *
Peugeot Speedfight 100
Yamaha Thundercat YZF600
Yamaha FZR 1000 Genesis
Kawasaki ZZR600
Kawasaki ZX-7r
Kawasaki ZX-9r

(* not owned by me but I had regular access to them)

Yeah, saw the new bikers thread and it was all about 125's and A2 licences etc. Embarassed

Yeah and no Honda ! no particular reason. Before I got the 7r I was keen on getting a mk1/2 Fireblade and again before getting the 9r fancied the later injection Fireblade but it just never worked out that way. The Kwaks seemed to be a tad cheaper. Both the 7 and 9r's were fantastic bikes.

I loved the 7, but when I changed jobs I increased my commute and added a big motorway section so not the ideal bike for that. The 9r eat up the motorway miles but I had it for a couple of years and racked up over 25k on it.

I'm kind of drawn to big engine, shaft drive BMWs... I'm no spring chicken anymore. But put off by the price tags. Although there's some good deals on ex-police bikes.

Anyway, won't have the cash for a month or too so just weighing up my options.

I do 300 miles a week, mostly motorway.

Your loss.
