Morning

Passed my test back in August and bought a Yamaha FZ1-n on a 58 plate. Love the bike, I'm on it whenever I can. There are some nice extras and all the original parts...thing is I find myself getting lazy what with it being a litre. It's a completely different ride from the 125 (natch) which was much more involved.

Anyway, I have the chance of doing a straight swap for a 2012 Aprilia Dorsoduro 750.

I would love a SM but I'm unsure whether I'd get on with a vtwin. I'm leaning towards saying yes but by posting here I guess I'm just looking for a little advice from those that might sway me from making the biggest mistake of my life, or giving me the little shove I need to do the deal.

Muchly

FZ1 has Renthal bars, shorty levers, shorter risers, yacuga springs, Nitron shock, power commander 3, dinky blinkers, Leo Vince Gp Pro exhaust (standard headers) lars airbox mod, decat, ais blocked, K&N filter and mapped to setup. Plus all original parts

Dorsoduro is 2012 and standard

I'm 100 + miles from him so meeting for test rides won't be easy

That is just a Sunday morning jolly. Meet half way??????????? If ou are bored with our bike it has more to say about you than the actual bike. If you have out grown it, then fair enough, but bored?????

I don't have time over the weekend to meet him...I'd probably struggle even if he came to me.

I didn't say I was bored as such, I just want a slightly more involved ride but I don't want 600cc sports bike involved.

Who's likely to end up with the better deal here?

Your bike does sound fully sorted with all those mods, and you would be going to a standard bike and no doubt want to spend money on mods for that...

I would stick with the FZ and work on your skills towards getting the best out of the bike.

Then why consider swapping it?

I'm not sure that a 750cc is going to require you to be that much less lazy.

So, what exactly do you mean by that? How fast are you wanting to go (on your closed circuit) and how much harder do you want to have to work for it?

too good to be true, probably is

dorsoduro I came across had been down the road, the rad guards bolted to the rad and the fall had damaged the threaded inserts in the rad which meant it leaked, it took 2 visits to serck to get it mended, and they fix them for all sorts of vehicles.

and you can get yamaha parts anywhere, tried getting aprilia parts? they're shut in italy for 2 months in the summer, where's you're nearest dealer when you need something?
