Is it likely to tank the value of BTC around this time?

Possibly slightly but not really. It isn't like they are dumping them on an exchange all at once.

The transaction doesn't affect the bitcoin economy unless the buyer then decides to do something crazy with them which is highly unlikely.

On both days the previous auctions happen, there was little change in market prices on those days (less than 1%) so that's a slight indication of what will happen.

When the Silk Road market site got busted the price dropped by nearly 13% just like that however the last load of busts didn't have as much of an impact on the price of coins.

Anything could happen to the price between now and when the auction happens in two weeks, things could happen that are completely unrelated to the auction which will be a bit unfortunate if someone bids say 5 million ponds for all the coins but market prices crashes after they've made their bid. Laughing

Putting 50,000 coins through it wouldn't be the smartest idea. Laughing

Flogging them on localbitcoins.com would/could get a good return and is perfectly legit. You would then have clean money which you could use to buy clean bitcoins to buy millions of ponds worth of drugs with.
