I think catalogues are being made to stimulate people's desire to purchase products, and catalogues for cars are usually thick and gorgeous, even with small cars like micra. I can call them a "book".
But for motorcycles, most of them are just "a sheet of paper", or "a folded paper" (just like a cover page of estimate sheet..). And usually the information and photos printed on the catalugue is less than web page. Now most of the people have their own PCs, they can get necessary information from web site.
I wonder what is the point they keep printing such paper catalogues.
I wonder why they don't make them gorgeous like car ones, or why they keep printing such paper catalogues.

I'd prefer they spent money on the actual bike instead of a glossy 20 page booklet of "Bike Goes Braaaaapp Super Faster"

I shoud've written "booklet" not "book" Embarassed
I understand it may cost a little bit more expensive (maybe £2 or 3?).
What I usually think them pointless is they usually don't have enough information on them.(like enough detailed pictures from various angles, possible genuine options and prices, and they are usually on the web).
And if I was Yamaha, I'll make XJR400 catalogue more gorgeous and sell more XJR than CB400SF.

I can't remember seeing any printed catalogues for motorcycles. Do they even do them in the UK? I can't imagine why.

Was this only here? I didn't know this, thanks for pointing this out.
I think they should stop them here too cause they are pointless.

I imagine as its too expensive. I can't imagine that many people would want a Micra booklet just to look at and admire, whereas I would guess many kids (and adults!) would take a booklet of the new Kawasukonda zxgsxcbr 1200 turbo nitrous machine...
