The wife has a painful heel

Condition has a name but Iccan't remember it

She was taking 200mg tablets two at a time four times a day

Spoke to the doc and he said take 400mg ones

She has bought some over the counter but instructions say take only 1 tablet 3 times a day

This is less then before

Anyone know why?

plantar fasciitis?

Probably because she'll develop a tolerance to it at higher doses and it'll be less effective in the long run so spacing the doses out for longer periods and knocking off one of the doses will make it less likely that she develops a tolerance.

But I reckon all the instructions do is provide a rough guideline of what's considered a "safe" dose/interval, probably best to listen to the doctor.

That's purely a guess.

No idea but when hospital discharged me after plating my arm I was also told 1x 400mg Ibuprofen 3 times per day with meals.

Remember she can take paracetamol with it too (assuming she has no issues with paracetamol)

Best bet is not to rely on it, or take it for too long, here's the blurb -"Ibruprofen are anti-inflammatory. Ibuprofen may cause life-threatening heart or circulation problems such as heart attack or stroke, especially if you use it long term. This medicine may also cause serious effects on the stomach or intestines, including bleeding or perforation (forming of a hole). These conditions can be fatal and can occur without warning while you are taking ibuprofen, especially in older adults".

Best advice would be to speak to the pharmacist / chemist, they will be able to advise the best course of action. Thumbs Up

Instead of the tablets, use Ibruprofen gel directly onto the area of pain.It is much easier to control and will not affect internal organs Thumbs Up

When I was in hospital I was quite surprised at the doses of painkillers they give you, can't remember exactly but it was a fair bit higher than you read on packets of codamol etc.

2 tablets every 4hrs, but after a while they will no longer work.

Make sure you have eaten when taking the pills, or drink some milk.

Ibuprofen Thumbs Up

This. Do not take on an empty stomach.

I've suffered from it before and, to be honest, painkillers do naff all unless you're completely off your foot.

The best pain remedy I found was to change my shoes every couple of hours. That doesn't mean carrying around 6 pairs of shoes, 2 will do. Just alternate them.

However, trainers are best. Especially ones with comfort insoles/soft soles and most females won't accept the idea of wearing shoes which don't murder their feet.

Following a car accident some years ago, I was taking 3.2g of Ibuprofen a day as recommended by the Dr. I actually double checked with another Dr at the practice during a check up a few weeks later, they were happy too.

I ended up moving to something else eventually (on prescription) as it started causing stomach upsets - but larger doses than the back of the packet are OK. Unlike paracetamol, which is seriously bad stuff if overdone.

Vitamin I is good stuff used sensibly.

hopefully they will put her on a till for rest of the shift after they open

seems to of come on when she bought some new work trainers that have a flat bottom on them so made her wear her proper tocapped shoes today

trainer in a place like aldi is never a good idea. I work a night shift in a Sainsbury's and steelies are a must for stock replenishment, I would never wear anything else.
