I'm looking at buying some new leathers, either a 1 piece or a two piece and i just want a rough idea at what will fit me best and what to look for when i go shopping!
I was using a RST pro series jacket for about 3 years that i got on with really well but it was always a tad loose and the size down was to short in the arms! but it was cut off me when i was knocked off a few months back lol
I'm about 6,2 and a slim build only weigh about 11 stone!
also my budget is around £500
any suggestions? |

+1 What Matt said.
I'm the same build 5,10 and 10st but RST didn't fit me for shit! Which I was gutted about.
Took me ages to find a 2 piece that fitted me properly. In the end I found alpinestars fitted me better.
Tracked down an alpinestars motegi 2 piece (older than the new 'orbiter' version) and got them for £400. Bargain
Basically, go try a shit load on. ____________________ 07' Honda Hornet now full powaah! My guide on performing an oil change! |

Apparently Wolf leathers used to suit taller people.. ____________________ NSR125RR - ZXR750H1 - ZX9R E1 - GSF600S - GSF600SK3 - VFR400-NC30 - SV1000N - ST1100-R - CBR900RR-R - GSF1200SK5 - GSF600SK1 - VFR1200FA - GSXR1000K2 - ZZR1400 D8F

Last month I went through the process of buying some leathers.
I was after a two piece and having looked around on the interwebs, read the reviews, seen the prices etc. I decided I'd go for an RST two piece and went down to their "Concept" shop in Hinkley to try some on.
The two piece jacket was a good fit, but couldn't get trousers for long legs, either too short or two long. Despite being advertised as a 360 degree zip, when they're zipped together there is a gap of a couple of inches at the front. This pulls the jacket out of shape, leaving a nice hole for the weather to get in. I was a bit disappointed as the jacket fitted well, seemed good quality and looked good.
It was a bit of trek getting there so, rather than waste a day, I tried on a couple of their one piece leathers. It's a long time since I've worn a one piece, (we're talking decades), so I was pleasantly surprised at how well they fitted, how comfy they were.
I ended up buying these:-

one piece, RST Racetech Evo suit, £300, last years model. hence the price.

Im 5"10" and 11st, one piece RST or Alpine Stars wouldn't fit me tried a set of Wolf on at the bike show a couple of years ago and fitted great. Didn't have funds at the time and found a used (just) set on ebay for £100 bargain!!
Need to try them on before buying... ____________________ Mod 2 passed 26/10/2011

Chris AKA wafer_thin_ham is pretty gangly and skinny - 6 ft 2 ,11 stone. Originally had a set of alpinestars whcih he needed to re-tailored to suit him.
He then went and purchased a made-to-measure hideout suit which he's had repaired many a time Speaks highly of them. However, £850 is steep.
You COULD get a set of second hand leathers and pay between £120-£200 to get them re-altered to suit you, which might be the best option. Guessing by your size, you're probably a 50-52 EUR.
Try before you buy is the old addage.
My personal preference is Alpinestars, purely because they fit pretty well off the peg. I'm only 5'9, but pushing 13 stone. Thing is, I'm built like a brickhouse so my chest and back are huge, waist is normal, but legs are massive. I take a 52" suit, whereas previously 50" would be fine. Had to have panels fitted on the flanks of my previous suit to accomodate my lats and traps.
Have a look at what's on offer here and budget another £200 for tailoring

Nothing wrong with used leathers. I've had 4 sets of alpinestars... only ONE i've bought new! ____________________ The Tot 2019 Z1000SX - 2007 R1
