VD comment copy-pasta for your convenience.

That's if it happens. Remember the 750 and litre models promised for 2013? The "Enfield apparel" announced last year? Dust in the wind.
Oh, Rog, Y U so cynical? Y U NO want UK bike industry to flourish?
Well, I do. I welcome any investment that gets people working on motorcycles in the UK. Even if it's UK money going to Indian companies to fund an office for a few years. It's all bike work, it might fan the embers. |

Is the UK gov. gonna launder money there? That's the only logical reason I can see with bringing old brands back home. ____________________ '87 Honda XBR 500, '96 Kawasaki ZX7R P1, '90 Honda CB-1, '88 Kawasaki GPz550, MZ 150 ETZ

If they ever do any "development" there beyond entertaining Whitehall and Brussels mandarins, I'll eat one (1) of my lids. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Today, I read, the RE is going to produce a 750cc parallel twin cylinder and a new 410cc single cylinder engine with OHC and 4 valves per cylinder heads. They say there will be at least 4 new motorcycles for next year and their aim is to gain 50% more in sales. So, they finally did it and stepped into the 1970's, I guess.
RE got Pierre Terblanche (Ducati designer) to work on the bikes, which I think is not what a RE fan would like to hear.
All that should be done in the development center located in the UK.

Royal Enfield UK were on Visor Down saying that it's too late for the UK.... errr... 'development' centre to have any input into the next tranche of bikes.
And Royal Enfield were saying back in 2011 that there would be 750 and litre twins in 2013, so I wouldn't hold your breath.
Enfields are by any measure over-priced in the UK. Performance, technology, build quality are all well below par. Their merit is that they offer something unique.
But that means an Enfield is not a Bonneville, and trying to move into that market will invite direct comparisons. I very much doubt they'll play out in Enfield's favour.
If their fancy pants new designer and bonkers sales target implies that they're going to try and do something other than retro styled bikes, then Hannigan help them, as they'll be going up against the Axis bikes with their pot-metal mend-and-make-do bikes. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Yes, I've seen this project before and I was impressed. It's called Musket 1120, not sure if the same motorcycle.
13,000USD and you have to give them your Enfield, so they can customize it.
I'm not gonna bother you with googling, here's their link: https://www.musketvtwin.com/

Underpowered, over-weight, over-fiddly, poorly built trash.
And yet. I went to the shops on mine today and I grinned all the way there, had a long "do it foggit" chat with a chap who was coveting it in the car park, and then laughed, actually stood up on the pegs and properly laughed out loud from the sheer joy of being alive on way back. I've never got that from any other bike.
Man is a giddy thing. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

I just whipped the cylinder head off mine so I can measure it up for valve stem oil seals. Took an hour.
Looks like mk2 Escort valve stem oil seals will probably fit at a stretch. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”

Huh. The most fun car engine I've played with was a Kent Crossflow, in a Mk2 and then a T&J Locust. The distributor cap wasn't handed in any way and could be replaced so that it sparked with the inlet valve open, backfiring heroically right through the carb.
That's the kind of 'ah, that'll do, start the production line' vibe that I get from the Enfield. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.
