I'm finding it difficult to get hold of some 5SL R6 cams that are in good nick. Few on the bay but they all seem pretty abused, what are peoples thoughts on these?

The cams themselves look OK but there is a fair amount of pitting on the bearing faces - may or may not be critical. Are these machines known for having oil issues on the top end?
If they are like rocking horse poo to find then it may be worth a punt but it may be a good idea to get them checked by an engineer to make sure that they are still true.

Edit: 30 quid is hardly going to break the bank if they are FUBAR, buying new however might!!!

Not that I'm aware of with regards to issues in the top end.

There is a whole head and cams on ebay for £150. Apparently it's done 4000 Miles and this is what the lobes look like:

Which looks like a bit of wear to me. The TL 1000R engine I just did the valve clearances on hasn't got a single mark on any of the cams they literally look like they're out the box and that's done 10k.

I'd be more worried if the lobes weren't looking polished on their ends! You can't see the state of the bearing surfaces in that pic but it doesn't appear to have a shortage of oil on them

....at least the floor has been painted and is reasonably clean - says a lot about a workshop.

Getting the rear subframe and a couple of other bits powder coated Tomorrow. Exhaust is being blasted. Then gunna take a couple of days either side of a weekend off to put the rest of it back together. I want to be on it this summer!!

And Marjay, they look ok to you? Other than the fact they're on a concrete floor?
