So I am going to go and look at a plastic fantastic Chinese Ped tonight, its been a long time since I've ridden a ped so the silly question is....

Brakes, back brake is the left handle right?

bike in question is a longjia direct bike 50cc anything specific to look for?

its a cheap stopgap, as long as it lasts a few months I will be happy

It won't be a cheap stop gap. It will break. Thumbs Up

That CG fell through...

Own from the dealer (Littlehampton Motorcycles) refused to give me their address or registration number of the bike and went apeshit refusing to sell it to me.

When I reported him to ebay he sent me a torrent of abuse, so that got reported too....

Of course it will break, but the question is what I can look for to make sure it doesn't break in less than a week Rolling Eyes its only done 2000 miles though...

If it's a 4 smoke then it's almost certainly a GY6 (ancient Honda) clone with plastics added to gain whatever look the model wanted.

Un-bodged they are pretty simple not really a lot to go wrong. Add a few 16 year old owners though and you could be looking at bodged derestriction, bodged wiring, badly installed cheap BBK, stupid jetting. Good news is most of those bodges cost peanuts to fix, these bikes really are cheap to fettle/repair. Thing is on a plastic covered ped it's not easy to get at the workings and inspect in detail (unless the owner is happy with you removing the seat bucket) so you are going to need to judge on how it runs then and the state of the bits you can see.

Back brake is indeed the left hand and you need to hold it in when you press the leccy start.

My pug vclic is just a rebadged Chinese ped and it's been utterly reliable, dirt cheap local transport (I did BBK it though as 50cc was too slow for my lardy arse).

Christ knows, but I'm putting the name out there lots and lots and will continue to do so...

Its obviously been on its side at some point in its life but it looks more like a low speed drop than a slide down the road. Looking through panel gaps etc all the electricals look to be OK, it runs nicely and I've decided that its worth the punt.

Its a way for me to get back on 2 wheels, a month without any form of bike has driven me pretty mental TBH
