I am re-building an old ER5 at the moment, and have the same problem with the levers. There's a lot of play on them, but they don't seem to be worn badly - so I guessed that there are a couple of washers missing from the pivot pin - either side of the lever.
I had a look at the levers on my daughter's bicycle, and they have a thin copper washer on one side, and a flat spring washer on the other (wavy washer) - so I think something like this is needed on the ER5.
If yours look like they have excessive wear - change them, otherwise fit washers. ____________________ Honda Varadero XL125(V8)
