I had a similar problem on the vfr.... riding along and it just died on me and wouldn't start. Turns out one of the terminals had disconnected from its mount inside the pump.... a bit of soldering and I haven't had a problem with it for well over a year.

Might be worth getting the pump out and making sure all the wires are connected in there

Other side from the photo

I bet there worn /dirty

Not cheap to replace but cheaper than a pump
Be VERY careful fitting new ones I seen lots of sets broken by ham fisted owners
