What's a good helmet that you recommend? Currently I got myself a cheap matt black helmet of Amazon for 30quid. It fits nice but my head looks extremely big in it, I wear S size. Since I'm quite a tiny girl with a small body, I would like something that doesn't make me look like a bobble head figure. I'd like a drop down sun visor too. The price range should be within 150quid. Thank you!

Go to somewhere like J&S and try a few on. More than your budget I would recommend a Scuberth C3.
Whatever helmet you buy it must be decided on how well it fits more than anything else. Shark produce some nice helmets in that price range.
Generally speaking the more you pay for a helmet the better its quality, lighter etc but not always 😀

Different brands have differing fits, so it's best to find the biggest shop near you and try loads on. Then check online if the same lid is cheaper anywhere else.

A cheap lid that fit's properly is going to be better than a very expensive one that doesn't fit. If you wait a week or so Lidl will be selling motorcycle gear again and they have a decent flip front (with sun visor) for £30-ish.

cheaper helmets seem to use the bigger outer shells so may have to put up with the bobble headness until you buy a more expensive lid

but as said we cant recommend a lid as we don't know what shape your head is

so need pics Laughing

Get yourself to a bike place. J and S or some such and pick a few helmets within your budget you like the look of. Walk out with the one that fits the best, even if its the cheapest of the bunch.

I've got 2, at the moment .... I'm sure I'll get another couple to add to the collection.

1. MDS flip front with sun visor that was £80
2. Scorpion EXO500 with pin lock (a real blessing at this time of the year) with sun visor and air pump and I managed to get that for £45!

As above, try some on and see what fits you best. My next one will be a pin lock but preferably lighter than the other two.

I bought an airoh helmet and it's probably got the smallest outside profile of any road legal helmet I've seen. Also extremely lightweight.

The one I got is a J106 which is a convertible helmet (removable chinpiece) but isn't sold in the UK. I had mine sent over from Germany but it's a bit of a gamble doing that fit-wise.

They do import other airoh lids into the UK though so it might be worth giving them a try to see if they are similarly diminuative.

For that price, I have two in that price range, a Caberg V2RR and HJC IS-17. The IS-17 is a little to ventilated for this cold weather atm, but when it warms up I'm sure that helmet will be great. The Caberg however mixed with a neck tube is perfect for the cold. So I recommend the caberg as it's a good all rounder.

So you used J&S facilities, knowledge and fitting service then came home and ordered it from somewhere else to save a few quid. Nice of you to support them. Rolling Eyes

If you don't mind the fact they can be a bit noisy the SHARK lids are pretty decent, I've had a couple and they tend to have a bit more range for those with small to medium size heads. They come in some nice designs too, including some feminine ones - when I was in my uncle's dealership yesterday there was a great one with pink roses and vines on the top.

Huh, I'd rather prefer something extremely manly than roses on my helmet Very Happy Roses and vines is definitely not my thing. I just need something that has a small shell, anti fog, drop down visor and doesn't let too much noise in

I'm sure the bike I bought from them in December aswell as the textiles, boots and gloves I bought while I was there to try on the helmet will help them through the traumatic experience of someone trying a helmet on for 20 seconds and then not buying it. As will your concern, I'm sure of it

I got one of these:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/LS2-FF370-Motorcycle-Helmet-Titanium/dp/B00BB9CP7U/ref=sr_1_24?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1425238893&sr=1-24

After trying more expensive Nolans and Sharks, this one fit my rather large noggin, flip front, sun visor and sold from a shop with pinlock inserts. i paid more than this as I got it from a shop, would recommend

Try helmets on until get a good fit.

The HJC IS-17 is nice if it fits, some of their older designs particularly the IS-16 (didn't get on with it, token damage in crash, replaced), now known as the 'new' TR-1 have impossible to operate top vents and a useless chin vent. I have retired my fg15. It was OK, vents easy to operate as per newer hjc but easily broken. IS17 seems to fit a very round head.

Shark appear to have worked hard on making vents that work well, with deep channeling in the EPS liner and vent closures that are sturdy, easily operated and that actually switch airflow. Fit is on the narrow side. I found the s900 visor hits me in the nose and eventually forked out for a speed-r. The visors across the range are particularly thick and sturdy, but expensive to replace. Consider a skwal?

Factor in the cost of buying a pinlock insert later if a helmet didn't come with one. They thereabouts eliminate fogging and thus let you leave the visor closed rather than messing about with partially open visors or needing to open the visor every time you stop at traffic lights or similar.

When ever helmets are on sale on websites its always size small or XL so you would get a helmet for £150 that would cost the rest of us £250.

Decided to go for either shark raw or shark vancore, bit more pricey but both fit me nice and will definitely go well with my new MT-125. Thanks for help guys!

I'd suggest my helmet because it's the most comfortable helmet I've worn and has a lot of noise reduction, but its definitely going to make you look like a bobble-head figure.

I have the AGV Skyline. Cost about 130. Haven't used it yet on the bike though. Fit's ideally an oval head shape which I happen to be. Good quality. Doesn't feel like a cheap helmet at tall like say the Caberg helmets.

The AGV Skyline als has 4 out of 5 Sharp Stars.
