What? Usually you can throw textiles in the wash, i;ve done it many times.

I wash it with Nikwax stuff to re-waterproof it

You can wash them and you should wash them, to get dirt out.

I'd suggest hand washing in a sink / bath / big bucket, using "soap flakes", no bio-this, enzymes-t'other, or nanobots, and then put through a machine cool wash or rinse with no detergent. Line dry or tumble dry on cool.

I can wash my RST tractech textile jacket? Once all the armour and winter lining is out obviously, I didn't think I could?

^^^
I have a green one of those and I've washed mine.
Was an ebay steal for £17 but was a bit grubby, As mentioned below took all armour out first
and also made sure all the velcros were 'reconnected' before it went in the machine to prevent snagging.
Then, 30 degree wash, wash inside out like you would jeans.
Don't go mad with the detergent, wash on it's own so it drains better.
They may need a second spin cycle as they will hold on to water and come out of the machine dripping wet.
Don't be tempted to tumble dry because ruin. Drip dry in a warm place.
Looked brand new after a wash.

One thing, take off all the plastic parts before you put it in the washing machine. Thumbs Up

I also have textile gear, I just hand wash it in my bath, using washing soap.

Mine is 18 months old and looks a bit tired but still works perfectly. So you don't remove anything else? None of the plastic bits? Just lining and armour and make sure it's inside out and Velcro and zips done up?

Thanks for the info lads!

When I bought my bike, the previous owner threw in an alpine starts textile jacket. He took all the amour and lining out he said, and just threw the jacket in the wash, before I came to pick up the bike. It seems ok, but I dunno what it was like before the wash - so dunno if washing it had any major effects.

I have tumble dried my RST Enduro jacket with Sinaquatm lining without disaster. On a cool setting, I stress, although GoreTex® gear actually recommends this:

GoreTex® wizards wrote:
Line dry your garment, or tumble dry it on a warm, gentle cycle. Once it is dry, tumble dry your garment for 20 minutes to reactivate the durable water-repellent (DWR) treatment on the outer fabric.

When I bother I wash them in the bath.

I last did it several years ago, they now smell like a wet dog when it rains.

Won't have much protection in a pair of pants, textile or not.

Mine doesn't have any plastic bits.

If they will come off then you may as well remove them too and clean those with babywipes instead.
Just to be on the safe side and to stop them clattering round the machine.
I wash the thermal lining section in with normal washing. It's only nylon.

unfortunately you didnt dry them properly, you need to make sure you open up the sleeves/legs and get the air flowing while they dry.

Wrong.

They smell because I haven't washed them in several years.

You are thinking of "Colin1"

Where is that chap of old who used to wash his dishes while having a bath?

Never use detergent on waterproof membranes such as gortex etc. it kills the waterproof qualities. Techwash is good as are soap flakes. Dissolve soap flakes in hot/boiling water before use - just pour the solution into the soap dispenser.
