After accidentally topping up the oil on the XJ6 today Embarassed, I needed to drain some out.

After a little bit of research on teh t'intart00bz I rummaged through the bathroom and acquired one of these:

Then Recluso quickly grabbed it out of my hands, ninja style, popped out the dipstick on the bike and was busy extracting the extra oil:

After a few pumps later, the oil was back down to a decent level.

So there we have it, a nice quick and easy way to remove any excess oil from your bike Thumbs Up

Simples & effective idea!
Wish I knew about this last week when I overfilled the oil & I was undoing my sump plug and doing it back up again every 20 seconds to check the oil level. Much oily hands and mess was made Embarassed

Those hand clean pumps are very useful tools.I adapted one for use as a way to correctly measure the air gap in fork legs when changing suspension oil

you can also lower a piece of hose through the filler hole, then bend the end over, remove it and the oil stays in the tube as the air can't get in the top to replace it, can take a while depending on the overfill

I put Swarfega in one of those empty soap pumpy bottles - not quite so imaginative but very useful.
