I bought a z1000 the other day which has had the ride height lowered. I told myself that I'd restore it to standand once I got it back home. That said, after the 400 odd mile trip back from Norwich, I actually found it a nice change to have both my feet flat on the floor for a chance when I stopped!

So my question is; does the lowering of the ride height affect the geometry/handling of the bike negatively at all?

Ah right ok. Well it appears to me, and I don't know much about it, that it has been lowered by fitting different linkage at the rear spring. That sound legit?

Yeah. You change the dogbones:

i.e. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Kawasaki-Z1000-Lowering-Kit-03-06-30mm-or-45mm-Available-Dog-Bones-Suspension-/310931368396

It will handle different, whether it bothers you and which way you prefer it is another matter.

If it's just had the lower dog bones, then it'll turn in slower.

No experience of it to know which way I prefer. Might change it to standard to compare.

Then you'll have less ground clearance. Thumbs Up

Hard to say if I like it or not. Having not ridden it in its standard setting, I've nothing to compare it to. Would be interested to hear of anyone's experience of messing about with the ride height in this manner.

I lowered the front forks by 3mm and raised the rear by 2mm to give myself a quicker turn in. I found this adjustment after weeks of experimenting and fiddling. A lower rear end will give a slower turn in. You need to know what you're after when messing around with ride heights, as it affects the geometry of the bike, stability etc.

So in short, go back to the standard dog bones and you'll find a quicker steering bike. You may prefer it.
