Had a mig welder for a couple of years, hardly use it and each time I have to relearn how to get the correct settings (then its easy!)

Decided I'd try aluminium in it. First I needed to upgrade the wire feed, so I converted it to a spoolgun and chopped the unused half of the case off.

Then bottle of argon connected up, no idea how much Ive used. Tried to do as much as possible on these small bits so its a mess Laughing

Surprised alu is so much easier than steel, it flows and penetrates 1000x better.

So I think Im ready to start joining up bits for my ebike project Very Happy

Quite pleased with it, had some issues not enough gas on the big piece so filed it down after.

Quite certain Ill be able to weld some attachment points onto my engine cases for some decent crash protection. My clutch cover has a small crack so it'll be ideal to test with

Anyone want to fund a big bottle of argon? Laughing
