Linky's in Czech, a language that isn't really my bag
I think I saw two of these on sale in a dealership in Florida last month, was certainly a pair of electric bikes. Didn't look too bad, except for the very boxy section of fairing hiding batteries (I presume), where an engine would normally be, which looked a bit sterile without all the lumps and bumps that a combustion engine gives a fairing ____________________ Make mine a Corona. |

As always, I give you all the interesting information, that I can get from the Czech motorcycle site. I only put the Original link there, because I always mention the sources of the information I present to you.
@stinkwheel, they do not talk about power output nor the price.

Power, no idea. I'd be surprised if they're not A1 friendly, which means up to 11kW continuous power, but potentially a higher peak power because mumble Brussels something Whitehall gabble can't actually see that in the regs.
Cost is reportedly (from a comment in the VD article) going to be equivalent to an NX750X, i.e. £6300 or equivalent in Irish Quatloos.
Both subject to wild speculation and change, because they're clearly being sold by silly fellows. I'm finding it hard to imagine a more generic, over-used name that will make it hard to build any kind of distinctive brand or marque loyalty. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

as ever, I'm interested but price is an issue
getting increasingly interested in trials/trail electric bikes
I loved the look of that electric scooter 50s retro style, but again... price
one day though, I'm sure I will buy electric |

For a trail bike, a KTM 150sx is listed at only 4.4kg heavier than that. A 125EXC (or 200EXC without the electric start) at 8kg heavier.
I'd take those for trail and consider a seperate trials bike (yep, I practice what I preach ).
For electric, I think it makes great sense in adding a bit of power to mountain bikes.
I don't think it makes sense in replacing ICEs in bigger dirt bikes, unless you specifically need to be quiet. You don't get any significant advantage, while you get quite a lot of disadvantages. |

Bingo.
60mph ~= 10kW = 25.8 minutes = 25.8 miles.
30mph ~= 2.5kW = 103 minutes = 51.6 miles.
Thing is, that's still enough for my commute, and the leccy bike would make up the money on even a 100mpg £1K Chinese 125 in 10,000 miles.
If it lasted that long, and there's the rub. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

30mph or a little more in this form.
Also has some bigger batteries for more range for sale for £300 - would probably be well over 35 mile range with those too, though I haven't thought about calculations. |

It's always going to be a range thing.
I just cannot see the point of something with a 20 mile range.
Put it this way, I'm sure at least 50% of us on this forum have run out of fuel at sometime or other. Well you are going to do it on this at sometime if you buy it. Then it's the AA (if that is classed as a breakdown) or a van to get it to a charging point, no walking to the petrol station with a can.
I'll remain a dinosaur and stick with IC thanks ____________________ Triumph Trophy Launch Edition |

Why isn't there a list of all current electric motorcycles and... oh...
https://www.atob.org.uk/electric-motorbikes-scooters/electric-motorbike-scooter-price-guide-uk/
No longer sold... no longer sold... sad times.
Claiming 55 or 60mph from a 4kW motor looks somewhat optimistic.
So, what's actually available at the moment?
G's electrically assisted pedal bikes.
SEV eTRICKS Evolution, which looks like a pedal bike without peddles, with no lights or indicators or pretty much anything that you'd need to road register it in the UK.
Juicy Bike Retro Li, 1.9kWh, £2450.
Govecs Go!, 3kWh, apparently £6,240 but I can't figure out how I'd buy one.
KTM Freeride, 2.6kWh, £10,300
BMW C Evolution, 8.0kWh, £13,500
Agility Saietta R, 9.6kWh, £16,770. Made in London, 1 year warranty, so tempting.
Nothing with performance + price that remotely tempts me.
Yamaha's gone very quiet about their PES1 / PED1. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

The Zero S & SRs are about the only electric bikes remotely worth buying at the moment, and they are NOT cheap. You can (technically) get them in the UK, but you'll have to go to Jersey to one at the moment.
I rate my Zero as an excellent commuting bike, one of the best I've had for that. Still there is no getting round that its early days for electric bikes, and producing toys like the Volt 220 are not the way forwards in my opinion. ____________________ 2015 Zero-SR; Yamaha Diversion 900 |
