Did anyone see the news footage of the person on the Aprilia riding through the flood water in London last night? They were in it up to their headlight and still going!
Respect!

Yes, it was amusing when he splashed the guy looking at the flooded road. Laughing

It was not much different for me last night - the North Circular was flooded all over the place and drains were overflowing. At Park Royal by the Ace Cafe the underpass had flooded and there were two cars that had water lapping over their roofs! I had a couple of hairy moments. Water came up to the brakes in one instant and got deliberately splashed by a BMW (what a surprise).

Got home to be told the house had been struck by lightening and the roof had lost slates and the rain had come in collapsing part of the ceiling. Crying or Very sad I told my friends at BBC Radio London about the North Circular Road and ended up on the radio talking about my roof! Rolling Eyes

Yes, I got caught as well. I was certainly in it up to my headlight on two occasions and the gridlock on the North Circular and the turnoff to the M1 slip road was fun, but only if you were on a bike. I arrived home looking like the proverbial drowned rat.

When I left work I was wearing my jeans and leather jacket and had no waterproofs. I was regretting this until I realised that there would have been far more gear to dry when I got home. The jeans went straight into the washing machine.

I also discovered that my boots were not THAT waterproof!

https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=30080 <-- couple of photos I took on the way home.

The first one is that bit just outside the Ace that headlamp was talking about, water level had dropped quite significantly by the time I got there, but that is one knackered bus. Laughing

Were you Eastbound or Westbound on the North Circular? The reason I ask is that I was in a convoy with a lady who was driving a brand new Harley, and also filtered behind a lady riding white sporty bike approaching Hanger Lane - were either of them you?

Neither of them were me, because I ride a green/purple (flip flop paint) Bandit.

I was Westbound but only from the A41 to the M1, hardly on the North Circ at all really!

Thumbs Up

I had to stop under a tree on Embankment to put my waterproofs on, and there were parts of the A4 and environs where the water was over my foot pegs.

Not an experience I want to repeat.
