Does anyone know of software that the user can define a known length in it and then the picture can be scaled to print to real dimensions?

I want to cut a gasket to size so want to take a photo of the case and then put in a known measurement that is in the same plane as the sealing surfaces and have the software spit out a scaled image which I can print and stick onto my gasket material to cut it.

If you're going to use a gasket then just smear the face of the case with some oil and press it onto the paper. Cut round the outside with a fresh scalpel blade, lift the case off and you'll have the inner edge and holes marked out in oil. Razz

Printing it out is probably overkill and you're bound to get distortion of the image from the camera if it isn't square on to the case and if the lens is even slightly wide angle.

p.s. I'm not stalking you - honest. Laughing

A4 Gasket paper, put case on it. Tap around with rubber mallet, then cut it out. Job jobbed.

Hahaha, are you sure Wink

I'm really not sure whether I should do 3 bond or paper, I am really worried about fucking up the 3 bond and hurting my beautiful Ducati Laughing that's why I'm tending toward paper. I was also thinking about marking with oil but then i thought that a stupid, complicated and in no way better solution would suit the Ducati way a bit more Cool

Funny you say that, i got a4 sheets because they are cheap and was going to make it so the split was in the middle on both sides and use some instant gasket to seal the splits Laughing

hahah well I thought it might just fit onto A4 and I got different sizes so I can see what to use for the big one if it needs A3.

I should have some 0.15 and 0.25mm stuff as well as the 0.8mm I mentioned earlier.
