I've got a Z800 and have been thinking for a while now about getting something to help with the simple tasks. There seems to be a vast choice from simple track stands to the £500 skylift (which looks fun, but is obvious overkill).

Does anyone have any suggestions or helpful tips about what to look for, what to spend extra on and what is unnecessary marketing guff?

Cheers

Not sure about your bike, but my first choice would be to fit an after-market centre-stand.

If there wasn't an option for this, I would look at Paddock Stands - either a universal type that doesn't need any modifications to the bike, or one that includes the bobbins or studs that you have to fit to the bike.

I have also seen some simple lifts for dirt bikes that don't even have a side-stand fitted. They fit under the engine and are operated by a foot lever, but I guess you would need a hydraulic lift for a heavier bike.
