Well, they say that every rider has an accident and I've just had my first.

Going from the Scotch Piper back to Crosby we decided to go through the "twisties" as they're known. Basically its a well tarmac'ed set of farmer roads through rural Hightown, only thing is they've got zero light at night.

So as we pull into the beginning of the twisties the leader biker disappears around a corner and I follow, only to realise I can't see a damned thing because I haven't got my full beam on and the street lamps have magically disappeared. Anyhow, reach for the switch, light comes on...

Kerb. 5 yards ahead. Arse.

Lean her as far to the right as I can get and hit the back brake a little, rode the kerb for about a yard or two and then the whole thing just flipped over. Hit the floor about 3 times on my back, twisted my neck and wrists a bit and bruised my back. Bike had it's gear lever bent (which we fixed on site, woohoo) and it's left indicator smashed. Also scratched my can (why is it always on the can side...)

Managed to get it back together and rode home, needless to say I'm sore and humble today. What an idiot Rolling Eyes

Sorry to hear mate.

Main thing as always is that you are ok - bike seems to have pulled through not badly either.

One thing you have learnt is to take it easy at night on poorly lit roads - you can't see hazards (oil/manhole covers etc) as easily as during the day (I know it sounds obvious). Also, it is harder to judge your speed into corners.

It's all part of learning after all.

Don't let it put you off.

Mark

Can't ride it home from work, clutch cable has stretched again so I can't change gear. Can't help but laugh though, you ran out of fuel, I ran out of road and Dave didn't notice we'd stopped Smile

Still, I found a shortcut hehe

I have to admit, bikes tend to crash better than I thought they would. Before I had my off I rode the NSR like it was made of glass Laughing Laughing .
