Unless it's mint and had a shed load spent on new suspension chassis bearings, with all the linkages stripped and re-greased regularly, it's very likely to be a big fast wobbly old mess by now.

Will cost ZZR1100 money in tyres, brakes, chain and sprockets, and probably eat these consumables, including cush drives too pretty quickly. It might be a big powerful engine, and a 165mph+ bike, but I bet you won't be able to use much of it very often or have the chassis that lets you exploit the pony's very well.

Best to have over £1000 put aside for a round of consumables too, as if it needs chain&sprockets, cush drive, suspension re-fresh, and or new shock, brakes and tyres all at the same time, you could spend a lot more than that getting everything done.

Think of the average mk3 Toyota Supra turbo, and what it would be like trying to hussle it around some twisty roads or a track, and that would IMO be like what most ZZR's CBR1000's and FZR's/Thunderaces will be like today.

If comparing it to the zzr1100, why not just get the zed? Garage queen, pampered late D models can be had under £2k, scruffy C models often seem to go for under £1k.

The CBR1000F is pretty good. You can buy all the bearings to restore the linkages quite cheaply (no more expensive than a similarly priced ZZR11 which will be just as baggy). The CBR1000F doesn't devour its camshafts or jam in second like the kawasaki (ask me how i found out gowan)

It's only vice is cam chain tensioners which again isn't terribly expensive.

I'd have an rf900 over either for that kind of budget, they seem to be pretty well looked after on the whole. I've seen some pigs of 1000fs for sale, and some pretty shabby zzrs too.
