Bought a new GN125, was really hoping to get a GN250, but even not very tidy ones, with no registration or warrant (New Zealand things) where a fair bit more expensive than a brand new 125 with a years registration ($500).
Pretty happy with it considering the price, but the headlight on it is shocking, my mountain bike headlight probably outputs twice as much light.
I've been looking around (these forums included) and my hope of just chucking a better bulb in it doesn't seem that likely. I've been looking at new headlights instead, I found this one on ebay, but have doing the calculations, it doesn't seem like it will be any brighter than the 35w/35w (~500 Lumens) vs the 568 lumens on high and 426 on low of the one linked:

Has anyone found a good way to improve the headlight on a GN125?
Other than that it seems great for it's price, it feels like it's on the raggedy edge going faster than 70-80 KM/h (50mph?), although I doubt there's much I can do there without spending more than a whole new bike. Although on that note, anyone know if the 150cc kits make much difference, they seem pretty cheap and good way to get to know how my bike works/pulls apart. |

If local NZ laws permit, a HID conversion might work best for you - still only 35W, but twice as much light.
A 150 kit might also be a good idea if your 125 bore and piston are showing signs of age and need replacing anyway.
Not sure about NZ laws again, but if you can get away with it, probably cheaper for you to go for a 150 kit, than to source an OE 125 kit.
Don't get too excited about power increase - if you managed a 20% improvement, that's still only about 2bhp more than you have now. ____________________ Honda Varadero XL125(V8)
