FPS recommendations

Hi all,

So I've been playing Wolfenstein: The New Order for about a year. Loved it. Killed lots of Nazi's etc. There's a new game coming out in May, Wolfenstein: The Old Blood, I will be looking forward to that.

In the neam time, any FPS recommendations? Nothing too mission heavy, I like running around killing things* not working out the plot and hunting for clues to proceed o the next level etc...

I quite like Call Of Juarez 2 Bound in Blood. It's different because it's a western, and it's immense fun. it's also probably cheap on Steam. I also particularly like Vietcong 2. These are both older games, but they are great fun.

I don't think STALKER Is right for OP, it is too difficult IMO. Not saying the OP is crap but by the sounds of it he wants a run in and kill everything in the room. STALKER is more realistic, you can't go to an area and mow everything down with an automatic weapon, chances are you'll die, You'll run out of ammo and unless aiming carely you'll miss. You need to think about how you attack. Personally I think most FPS's on Hard are easier than Stalker on easy.

All the Bioshocks; Infinity is superb
They do have quite a lot of story in, but not too much puzzling IMO.


Recently played through (the updated version of) Shadow Warrior - amazing hack'n'slash - the swordplay is soooo good, you hardly want to use the other weapons! Very funny, very old school.


If you really want straight into the kills, try One Finger Death Punch (although it's not exactly First Person ).

Borderlands series is by far the best for mindless shootery. A little too mindless, I found it got tedious and started to wonder why the hell every unwashed bandit in the wastelands could reassemble their weapons with different scopes and barrels and such but I couldn't.

CS:GO if you wanna play a competitive game and actually strive to be good at it. At first I thought the pursuit of skill in a game would destroy the fun in it, but it's really the opposite and I discovered that competitive gaming gets so fucking addictive it's unbelievable.

Any CSGOers here add me on steam. Gold Nova 2 atm, need a good team to rank up with lol I always get paired with russians/poles who curse at me.

Also another recommendation for a shooter. It's not exactly an FPS but it has FPS only servers (hardmode), is Arma 3: Breaking Point (the mod).

This one is bloody amazing and I've drained hundreds of hours playing it. It's a post apocalyptic sandbox survival game similar to DayZ and other games in that kind of genre, with very polished and very realistic ballistics physics and has a faction system which is what separates it from other survival games. It's somewhat slow-paced and completely tactical with mind-blowing graphics when maxed out and I can't explain how realistic it feels when you're camping out with a sniper and have to take time to range-find, zero your scope, account for bullet drop & wind, and relocate after you shoot etc. No other game is so detailed.

It's very immersive and is a real time-sink lol, I played around 13 hours straight from 1am to 2pm the next day with some dude and we managed to repair a fuel car, use it to repair a helicopter, and then use that to steal another far better military helicopter that was hidden by a clan on an island. Then we horded everything, including a speed-boat which we then blew up for shits & giggles, and looted everywhere for the rarest gear.

I couldn't pick one over the other though, they're both amazing games and you should play both of them.

Just remembered another one that i've been playing recently, Insurgency. It's far more realistic than most other FPS games, but it's not like Arma where you sit around for ages planning an attack. It's kind of like CS:GO, but with much larger maps and the playerbase isnt terrible

I'm working my way through the first three F.E.A.R. games from 2005; old games = money saved, and I've just done part 2 with god mode permanently on (well it is Easter).

As mentioned Bioshock 1, 2 and Infinity are all brilliant. Half life 2 can be picked up cheaply, Rainbow 6 Vegas is great.

Also there was a game a few years ago where you could decay/rebuild objects, something to do with time travel, brilliant FPS, can't think of it's name.

Also the Crysis series.

The game was called Singularity. Fantastic game.
