Just discovered Billy Bragg - way behind the test curve I know.

Lots of fun with the music lyrics.

Always liked political music when the musician has something to say, sometimes just pointing out the mess around them, it might not be my view but it's nice hear something different instead of the usual musical subjects of Love, loss and love all the time being pushed down our throats.

It's nice to hear an musician that isn't afraid of going against the grain.

Easy to go against the grain when you're a champagne socialist.

He ruined the Internationale with his rewrite of the lyrics. Turned it from a rousing, epic song to a snivelling apology.

A wannabee working class hero with far too much money to start with or in Braggs case a total wanker.

Yeah, he's not alone amongst celebrities either. It's very easy to be humble, pious and champion the working classes when you're a multi-millionaire.

Sounds like a lot of jealousy really, they made their money as do all of you, some more than others, some a lot more than others but oh well nothing will change. You don't have to be a man on a park bench to be a socialist, just that it's a sad fact in todays capitalistic world you have to make money to live. Wouldn't all of you, if you had a nice lump not have a nice house, cars, holidays, look after family and all the other trimmings that come with wealth? From my limited understanding they are trying to get the people to change not the individual to support and speak out and protest against issues. The last protest that was any good was the fuel strikes in the late 90's and that was short lived. Since then the people have just taken a shafting after another from various fat cats and bozo's in high up seats. You hear lots of complaining but no uniting in a common cause to put a united voice to people who can make a change.

Nothing will change the UK is terrified of doing anything.

I just like the music for a change over the stale stuff we are subjected to daily by the big 4 music companies.

Nothing will change because everyone thinks it's all if gravy if they can chase the fantasy of this.

Doesn't matter to them it's achieved on a mixture of debt and their own wage slavery backed up by the wage slavery of the workers of poorer/oppressed nations.

Go read the original English translation of the Internationale then Billy Bullshits version. Then tell me that in the pursuit of fame he didn't shit all over a rousing cry of unity for the worlds oppressed.

Can't win can they. Before you're famous no-one gives a crap what you have to say. After you're famous, even if you have a social conscience, you're branded a champagne socialist because you have a few quid in the bank.

He's got cash through marrying a woman who, has lots of it.

He hasn't made any of his own. I can't imagine he's actually sold many records and his royalties must be paltry as few stations will actually play his stuff, ooh too "political".
