I sold my ZZR back in Janurary to a chap from the Isle of Man.

So I sent the export slip to the DVLA and I have not had a slip from the DVLA recognising the sale.

Should I be worried? I think they have done their usual thing and have lost it and still think I own the motorcycle. I sorned it in December so I do not want letters from them come Christmas about taxing it.

Thanks

I ended up with an £80 fine because of the DVLA's incompetence.

You should receive an acknowledgment slip within 4-6 weeks of sale/transfer. If you have not received one the onus is on you to follow it up.

My advice would be to send them a letter saying when you sold it, and that you have not received an acknowledgment slip yet.

You paid a bribe, not a fine.

Won many times in court, in my current state though I'd probably call em up Tuesday to ask.

Phone them up and complain about it. Record the call if possible (free Android apps do this). You'll then have proof of chasing it up if anything is to come of it. They'll tell you to write them a letter detailing the make/model/registration of the vehicle, the date of sale, whom it was sold to, and to sign the letter.

They'll then receive this, update their records, and you'll receive the acknowledgement slip. They won't backdate an acknowledgement slip.

I'm surprised the guy that bought it hasn't complained yet about not receiving the V5. If he has, DVLA will tell you on the phone that you're not the registered keeper anymore.

Yes.

Sort it out. It won't go away by itself.

I now (sadly) send everything recorded delivery to those mongs. Interpretations Act was sufficient, it may not be any more.

Good luck.

Why the hell did you have to pay £25? Had a similar problem with my wife's car's V5 and sorted all this out online with the DVLA online help page. For once, something that actually works well from the DVLA!

As above pick up the phone and forget mailing them. If they lose a V5 what are the chances of them receiving let alone reading a letter?
I had the same for my bike but as a new keeper. Called and they had sent it to the wrong address. Came in the mail 3 days later.

Similar thing happened with the car, misus waited and I just called them up and sorted in 5 minutes. Chaps on the phone are usually polite and easy to deal with, if you are.
