Hi folks.
I'm new here. Hubby isn't long back into biking and I'm looking to get geared up for riding pillion.
Basically, I'm looking a pair of leather trousers to wear in the better weather. I have a decent pair of winter armoured textile trousers already.
In the leathers I'm looking for the hip armour, in addition to the knee. I'd also like the leg to be a bit longer. I tried on a Frank Thomas pair at the weekend, and the legs were way too short. I'm 5'8".
Can anyone recommend good fitting leathers for women? Are the more expensive brands worth the extra money?
Any advice/recommendations would be much appreciated! Thumbs Up

Look on EBAY.
Loads of second hand bargains on there.

That's the eternal question that polarises and burns in the minds of BCF inhabitants.

My view is that if it fits and its comfortable, save up and buy it rather than wishing you'd bought it.

The only way to check if something fits is to try it on. Simples.
My FT leather trousers were a tad short for me too btw but I only discovered this after a few miles on the bike.
I bought taller boots. Thumbs Up

Pop into J&S in Glasgee, loads of choice by the looks.

Another Weegie member? Breeding like rabbits.

Yup, J&S on Great Western Road, or the big warehouse in Hamilton.

Also worth trying:

https://www.firecrestmoto.co.uk/

I'd give West Coast Harley Davidson a miss as they appear to mostly sell t-shirts and baseball hats.

Its inside / inseam measurements that count, not overall height.

I gave up trying to find 28/36 off the peg. Just find a pair of blokes kit that fits you well around thighs and bum, and go get them altered to fit around the crotch / waist. Thumbs Up

OR, buy continental...where women are allowed to be slim and tall at the same time. Exclamation

Sportsbikeshop will let you order stuff and return it with little to no hassle - they have a filter for women / unisex ...

but you probably can't beat going and trying stuff on.

What about Girls Bike 2 (if it is still going)?

My missus used to go there and rated it.

Lets get the following over and done with:

The sizing on motorcycle leathers is largely meaningless except to compare leathers of the same make and style (so if the 10 doesn't fit, try the 12 kind of thing).

As such, buy the leathers which fit you, not the ones that are too small "but I'm NOT wearing a size 16 *Stamps foot, pouts*".

Buying leathers which are too small because of the size printed on the lable will result in you being cold because it'll restrict the blood flow to your extremities and you wont be able to get any extra warm clothes on underneath.

So remember, your leathers are for protection and warmth, nobody can see the size label.

The following announcement was brought to you by someone who has a wife and a copboard containing at least two bike jackets she can only get on with a vest under it and still needs help doing up the zip.

They are still around, moved from Hitchin to St Albans a while back but are still very good for women's bike gear.

OP - definitely give them a go as they stock a wide range of brands and styles. If you get an idea of size but they don't have what you want they can order stuff in and send it on. I have bought both my one piece and two piece leathers from there Thumbs Up

Key-in 'Bikers Paradise' Windinherhair, they could well do just what you're looking for and at a realistic price. I've used their stuff for years.

Thanks for your (sometimes insane Wink ) replies folks.
I'm still searching for a pair with good reviews and from an online seller who does free returns-that way I can try them on at home.
With leather, is it good to buy a pair that fits quite neat? I'm guessing it stretches/breaks in?

Leathers you want to be as snug as possible to keep the armour in place in the event of an off. They will loosen up a little over time but essentially you need them to be like a second skin to you.

The first time I rode in my new set they gave me bruises around my shoulders and the back of my knees which is perhaps a little extreme but they have become a little looser. The armour still stays in the right place though.

Well, I am well pleased with what I bought.
Hardly worn (2 or 3 times) Rev'it leathers.
The ladies Marryl 2 trousers and Raven jacket.
Managed to get them for £200 all in! The usual price is £520, so I am well pleased. They arrived yesterday and are like new! I am loving the fit too.
Thanks for all the help Wink
