You can't clean a carb, so the solution is to replace the engine?

The bike is going to get fixed today, it's nothing to do with me cleaning the carb, I'm just curious for future reference.
I've never heard anything about a superbyke engine so I thought why not get a proper 125 engine.

The engine is the least of your worries with a noodle bike.

Apart from the rear shock failing, my chinaped seems to have suffered no issues other than the engine.

I'm sure there was a project thread where a lad put a genuine Suzuki motor into a Chinese bike mind. Might be worth raking around and trying to dig it up, was in show and tell Thumbs Up

Ah right cheers lads, has anyone heard anything about these Superbykes ?
I'm willing to spend a few quid on it to improve it a little, what shall I buy/upgrade first?

At the minute I do not have enough money for another bike, but slowly saving up for a Honda CBR 125

Thanks

Want a better bike? Fit a Better Rider. - Better rider, goes faster; crashes less; uses less fuel; wears out less stuff; doesn't put up insurance, might get t down; its all 'win'.

Better rider gets the best out of their bike, whatever that bike, and that starts by putting the 'best' into their bike, giving it the care and attention it deserves to do the best job it can...

Which brings us back to sorting out your carb... IF it actually 'needs' sorting.. and this little hesitancy issue isn't merely leaving the choke on too long, or not putting it on at all.. which leads back to being that 'better rider' getting the best out of your bike!

Advice for improvements?

1/ read the user manual. Learn to operate the choke and fuel tap and 'stuff' properly; what 'user' safety checks and maintenance checks to do, and when. What the service intervals are, and if you don't now what was done or when before you got it; do 'em to be sure!

2/ if you haven't got more than CBT, consider getting yourself up to the lowest possible level of competence, and getting a licence, EVEN if that's just an A1 group, 'cos you are too young, or poor to get a higher one. Discipline to do it is a step in the right direction to becoming a 'better rider'.. £120's worth to get an A1 if you pass each test 1st time; £30 for Theory, £15 for mod 1, £75 for Mod 2, self booked on your own bike; as cheap as one repeat CBT cert, and you can ditch the L-Plates; carry pillions and use motorways if you want. If first licence, also starts the clock on your 2 year NDA 'probation', when they can revoke all entitlement for half points; ad f you are stuck on a tiddler 'cos under 19 or under-funded; you get that clock ticking whilst in command of a vehicle, less likely to get you points so quick. ALSO a spring-board for higher licence groups, should you wish to go for them. As a full A-Group licence holder you end an absolute beginner come looking for a course; you have already gone round the houses once, so know the ropes, and only have to repeat the two practical tests on a bigger bike, having nailed down CBT and Theory first time round; so clear shot to get higher licence as soon as you are old-enough/rich enough, half the work already done, and a known quantity that should need less and less expensive training to get familiar with a bigger bike to do it over on one... again, its still all win.

3/ Appreciate what you got for what it is, not bemoan what its not. If you cant find SOMETHING to praise it for, you'll likely ALWAYS be disappointed whatever you have, wanting what you don't have, not appreciating what you do. For the most part 125's are good for being 'cheap-wheels' and being great training tools. They don't go very fast, but they tend not to use much petrol either. I just filled up the 750 this afternoon, took over £20's worth, just over three gallons, and I have barely done 150 miles since I last filled it up.. approx 50mpg, which is actually quite good.... I cant remember when I last filled up the 125! Co-incidentally, both their tax reminders came in this week... £80 for the biggun; £17 for the tiddler! The 'Monthly' option is something laughable like £1.50 for the 125! And tyres! Tiddler hasn't had a new pair in four years, and probably not need any for another four, but they only cost £90 a pair for good ones; 750? £200 a pair, and they last maybe 1/3 the miles. And ACTUALLY.. while 125's might not be all that fast... they can still break most UK speed limits... even the lesser ones ought be able to do the NSL.. better ones might scare the higher 70 limit for duel carriageways, if you wind them up enough.. BUT... either way, there's no huge difference; one of them, even the fastest of the fast, illegal on L'Plates, 125 two-strokes are NOT that particularly 'fast'... and STILL most of our roads have speed limits lower than they can go.. you can make a LOT of 'progress' on a 125, you can cover a lot of miles, and get an AWFUL lot of biking, and for NOT a lot of money.... so why save p to buy a more expensive one, that doesn't do very much more for the extra money?.... Better spend to my mind; a) reading that user manual, putting that cash into good maintenance, and making the best of what you already got.. and the rest? Well instead of letting it burn a hole your pocket, put it in your tank and burn it in the engine GOING PLACES, getting miles and experience, that help make you that 'better rider'...

the superbyke use the gs125/gn125/dr125 4 stroke susuki motor
not the rm125 which is a 2 stroke .
as far as chinky clone motors go, a copy of the gs isnt a bad way to go.

if you want more power then i wouldnt buy a cbr125,
id buy the next part of my license, with what you pay for a cbr
i could do the license and buy a gs500, and probably have some pennies left for a tank of gas
effectivly getting 4 times the power for under a grand.

sounds easy. it is...

The Superbyke RMX-125 is a four stroke. The Suzuki RM125 is a two stroke. Do the maths.

The engine is the ONLY good bit on your bike. From what I've seen with them every bit as quick (slow) as a genuine jap 125 4t single but the rest of the bike falls to bits way before the engine does

its funny you should say that because yesterday the bike just randomly cut out on me for no reason, it would then not start until a give it a few kicks. (electric start would just not work)
It not does not idle (always needs rpm or it cuts out)
and also its starting to make a loud clicking noise.

really stuck for things to do.
I have had the carb out and cleaned the jets
checked my HT lead for any arching
Replaced the spark plug
replaced the petrol

still

If the bike is unreliable, the metal bits of the engine are not the problem. They either work, or fail catastrophically.

The problem will either be fuelling or electrical. It's a 125, so a 17 year old has probably tried modifying or fixing something in the past.

On the fuelling side, get the carb back to factory settings and make sure all connections are tight and none of the rubbers are split.

On the electrical side, look over all of the connectors for corrosion or burning, and clean up any problems you find.
