Just thought I'd give a mention to a tailors here in Luton.
She's done a very good job indeed with taking in the legs on my bike jeans, much better fit and well worth the £15.
She doesn't appear to have a website so here's a Yell link.

Just a question. Did she use 'bonded' nylon thread to do the repairs?
Same spec as the original thread used?

If not then a slide may well cause her new stitching to burst open.

I took a leather Jacket to a local place to me (Cherrys alterations Kingswood) for a new zip and they
made quite a fuss about saying (and showing me) they use bonded thread for the repairs to bike leathers.
Main zip replacement and two leather straps with velcro for the wrists.
Cost was £50

It's only £50 mate, and I'm certain it took longer than 10 minutes.

I agree, I'm more of a Conservative man myself.

Can you? Can you be certain it wasn't made by a 12 year old working for the cost of a bowl of rice. Training provided on the job. Rolling Eyes

Had a seam in my hein gericke jacket fail after a slight tumble. They asked for i think 12.50 to sort it at my local Taylor, as they needed to use "special machine at other place" and order some thread. They opened up the jacket along the sleeve zip to get at the stitching to be done and restitched that well enough that I couldn't see where they had done it. Very much trying hard to justify the price they were charging, and then I think I offended them suggesting they keep the change from a 20. Very firm about doing good work and never overcharging for it.

Old Thread Alert!
