I seem struck with the masochistic desire to drive long distances on small engines. Even my 250 was pretty easy to go to portugal and back really... Looks like you can buy a little Tomos brand new for a grand Razz

What I would actually really like to tour on is Yamaha townmate. Shaft drive, 4 speed (unlike c90), and even roller needle cam bearings, what's not to love!

Masochistic? In which case I recommend riding a Chinese c90 through the Sahara.

That was tedious.

If it has points, take a spare set, feeler guages and a points file. The points on mine used to stick together if you rode for 100 miles on the trot.

Best touring bike would be a Honda CT110 "postie bike". I doubt there are many places in the world you couldn't go on one of those.

A guy did Sydney to London (up through Indonesia and the 'stans) on one.

I did the 2010 Round Britain Rally on my 350 Bullet. 89 landmarks, 3 months, 9,500 miles.
