My CBF125 seems to have developed a leak from the head gasket on a trip to Scotland last week. It doesn't seem to be massive amounts coming out and seems to only happen when riding at high revs for longer periods.

The thing is the bike has under 2500 miles on it but has just gone out of warranty (Jan 13 registered). The bikes booked in later this week for a warranty job (needs a new set of clocks which spent months on back order) so I was going to mention it then when I drop it off, but is there anything else I can do when inevitably they refuse to do anything as it is out of warranty? It seems fairly poor for a head gasket to be gone before the second service

Get lost on the way to the Workshop?

Have you narrowed the leak down? Oil leaks are pesky things, I was convinced my Lifan was leaking from the head until I realised that a bolt leading into an oilway half way up had slackened off.

How do you know exactly when it's doing it? Are you cleaning it off thoroughly then catching it leaking again?

Meh, cheap Indian / Malaysian crap, par for the course. Better that you can see it leaking than that it burn through it sneaky like and seize, as they do.

If you want to have a fiddle, first thing I'd check is that the crankcase breather isn't blocked.

Didn't know what section was best, thought here might be better as I wasn't really looking for technical advice, more any way of getting Honda to fix it.

The leak does definitely appear to be coming straight out of the head.

Yeah I cleaned it off after getting home and it only comes back if I ride dual carriageway/nsl for extended periods.

Okay thanks, will check the breather when I get home

Re: the warranty. They are well within their rights to not do anyhting for free, as it's out of warranty. it's purely up to their discretion and I'd expect to pay for it yourself.

This also happened to mine, but the gasket had done about 6k miles plus I re-used it after taking the head off. A new gasket fixed it (£9 I think).

As Roger said, check the crankcase breather but I would also get a new gasket as they don't seem to like getting re-used. It's hard to replace the old gasket in exactly the same position as it was taken out, hence leakage.
