3 month classic insurance?

Situation is:

My current policy runs out on May 9th.

I am moving somewhere I can afford to insure my Ducati on the 1st August.

Between May 9th and August, I NEED a bike. I don't think I can switch bikes through my next policy because the bike I would insure for 3 months is a 1981 CB250RS so it would probably be a classic bike policy and I wouldn't then be able to change bike for Ducati.

How do I ride my CB250RS for only 3 months as cheap as possible (excluding the illegal way)?

Will any insurance company let you extend you current insurance policy for 3 months?

Other options include taking out a 12 month policy and canceling it after 3 months (any repercussions?)
