My bike is poorly FZS 600 2001.

Coming off the motorway after cruising back from Bradford it was crackling/excessively loud so I pulled into an industrial esteate to investigate.

First I checked the oil level which is OK and there is no loss in power.

Then I noticed down pipe number 2 has worked its way lose which I believe is the problem tightened the nut back up at the road side it is still excessively loud though.

Loud and crackling so you checked the oil?

Your exhaust is leaking or cracked. Take it off and see what's up.

Tightened all the the studs I have done them up just enough to stop the leak could go tighter but I do not want to snap them they look fragile.

Would benefit from new studs and gaskets at some point in the near future.

For now the problem is fixed though it did sound much better with the leak.
