I have a question for ZX-12R owners out there. I am currently modifying my '02 ZX-12R with the Muzzy 1427cc stroker kit and nitrous oxide. I need to know what % hp increase my stock bottom end can accept before I have to purchase stronger con-rods, bearings, etc. Also, could you recommend a reliable nitrous oxide system for this application, and if any of you have had luck finding after market bodywork for your bikes, I would greatly appreciate knowing where you got it.

Erm, I haven´t a clue, but I will give you a medal if you don´t die on it! Razz Very Happy

Only kidding. Isn´t that going to be shockingly fast though?

Yeah, deffo one for Mr C. Very Happy

As for NOS, I have been looking at Wizards as I have good things about them. There not the cheapest, but they are good kits.

welcome my friend

all the information you require is here

www.200mph.org.uk

Studly (aka Sean Mills, MD of Big CC racing) will help with all your mechanical issues and Brad (Brad O'Connor ex of DSD, now running his own business engineering electronic fuel control for nitrous and turbos etc. among other things) will help with your nitrous and fuelling issues - between these two I don't reckon there is anyone in the UK (some would say world) better placed to answer your queries

get over there now, if you can't get in let me know and I'll have a word with the management

most of the Uk's top competitive strret bike racers hang out there too so it's almost certainly your best hope of getting what you need in the UK

look forward to seeing you there

the zx12 is a very awkward bike to make accept any kind of forced induction as the airbox is the frame - it works very well at low pressures such as those experienced under ram air conditions but when you start getting up to a couple of atmos g then you need to weld every little hole shut and that gets awkward and expensive although I do know a few people who have done it

I also know of one guy who has spent so far twenty grand turboing a 12r and that doesn't include the bike Shocked

as much as it pains me to admit, for quick and cheap (ish) big HP the busa is the way to go

oh, and if you ain't in the UK then www.zx-12r.org also has a couple of people who know what they are talking about

and about a bazillion who don't have the first clue

you lot will be amazed at the number of posts on there that go along these lines

"hi there, I'm Terry from Oklahoma, I never had a bike before but I'm 6'2" and 400 lbs and the zx12 seemed comfortable so I bought one, any performance mods I should make before I ride it for the first time"

Just one small point, you said its got a stroker kit which means the con rods and crank have been replaced already so why are you asking what power increase your standard bottom end can take?

I want to say thank you for the information you guys have provided me so far. I'm going to be checking out the noswizard and 200mph.org right after I post this. To address Kev's question, I'm using 87 mm cylinders with a 60 mm stroker crank giving me 1427 cc displacement. The rods do not have to be modified for this application. I'm being told that stock rods can handle up to 500 hp, but I wanted to hear from people that have actually tested this theory themselves. I've also been told that the stock bearings will be fine. The reason I'm not going with turbo, is because of the airbox issues with the ZX-12R. However, I have to much invested in this bike emotionally to ever trade it in for a 'Busa, though I do respect Suzuki and their bikes. If anybody knows where some quality after-market bodywork can be found for my bike, I would definitely appreciate a heads up. Again, thanks for the information.
