He's bought a bike from a shop down south somewhere, but there's a bit of a problem.... before collecting the bike he ordered a restrictor kit for the guy in the shop to fit.... today the friend gets a call (or email, I wasn't told which), it turns out the bike is only putting out 32.1hp.

So a couple of things:

Should he get in contact and tell the guy in the shop to get it sorted before Saturday?

If he can't get it sorted down south before the weekend, how fast will he be limited to?

The bike is an XJ6n

So is the bike already restricted to 31hp?

The kit was fitted and checked today..... that's how he knows it's only putting out 32.1hp.

I just had a look at the restrictor kit on ebay, this one to be exact, and according to the advert there is a 25kw and 35kw kit, which looking at the figures, it appears he's been sent the 25kw kit, but he's been told that isn't possible.

Has anyone bought these kits before, is it obvious which kit is which?

I'd remove the restrictor and ask for a refund

Take them out, drill bigger holes in them. Enough to give full power, chuck them back in, boom, bike looks legit but is fast(er).

Oh, what an astonishing surprise. That's the ropey fucker who was selling an A2 kit for the older Gixxer 600 that only a full retard would think was under 70kW to begin with, if they'd just skimmed the Wikipedia page that lists the real wheel rather than crank power figure.

Ropey fucker is probably just punting out his old 25kW kits and reckoning that nobody will ever check. I'm amazed that the garage did - good on them. Thumbs Up

Garage is now down their labour costs - did you provide the kit, or did they source it. I'd be wanting them to punt it back for a full refund, but take and provide a copy of the TOTES OFISHUL CETRIFIKATE OF FITINGMENT which is what he'll really need anyway.

Ropey.

Fucker.

I asked about the kit and this is what he said:

Quote:
I bought the restrictor kit off ebay (the one the guy from the dealership said to buy), but when it's arrived and he's fitted it - instead of putting out the 47 it said it would. It's putting out less

Now I know nothing about restrictor kits, but to me that looks like it should be restricting the carbs, but allegedly it's a throttle stop kit Confused

A bit like this? Just stops the throttle opening fully.

Could be worse, I saw one chap with a Moto Guzzi who'd been charged £180 to fit a bolt. It was a very nice bright blue bolt though.
