So, six months later I'm finally getting round to changing all the fluids on the SV ('cept the oil/filter, that was done when I bought it).

Tonight's job is draining & replacing the coolant. Does anybody actually bother with a flushing agent or is running the system through with just water a couple of times generally accepted practice?

I only ask as I don't have any flushing agent and can't be hooped dragging my arse to Halfrauds.

I would only use a flushing agent if I had no idea what was in the system before, and needed to get rid of any remnants of sealant or other additives that might be in there.

If you know there's only water and anti-freeze in the system, flushing with plain water should be fine.

If the system was previously held together with RadSeal, expect to find a few leaks when you flush!

I unclamped a rad hose and attached a garden hose to one side and flushed it that way. That blasted out quite a bit of sludge.

Hose, blast away until it runs clear. Did it on my 8 year old GPZ, it ran mucky for longer than I would have believed possible. Like, almost long enough to read a Teflon-Mike post. Shocked
