Hi all,

I have recently passed my test and have been riding my CBR 400 NC29 (restricted to 46.9 bhp)

Obviously loving every minute of it and can't wait for the sun to come out!

I am noticing (possibly because its restricted) When i am in the higher rpm's if my throttle is 90% open it pulls nicely then when i open it all the way it almost feels like it bogs down slightly. Is this normal for a restricted IL4?

Yes, I had it taken to the bike shop in a van where it was restricted with all the paper work,

It was 4 metal things that go into the manifold i believe

My ZZR felt a bit asthmatic as you describe, I put it down to the bike over fuelling with the throttle wide open for the amount of air it was getting

Not 100% sure if this is the actual issue but my restrictors are out and now no issues - the ZZR is an IL4

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

Yep my bike spluttered at 80-90mph
Once the restrictor was out it would do 140+ with no splutter

I take it that you waited until you passed your test before you removed the obvious restrictions?

It was a complete fucker passing my test on a 125 and then being able to ride anything. It killed me 3 times before I learned my lesson and restricted myself to pathetic levels of power.

Just like you did with your L plates because you were too cool for them? Remind me, how did that end?

If you get caught without restrictors it's 6 points. 3 for not driving in accordance to your licence, then another 3 for riding uninsured, since your insurer thinks it's restricted. That could be a ban if it's inside the first two years.

Its usually a minimum 6 points for no insurance

Yeah rode restricted bikes for two years before unleashing the extra power.I was restricted to 33bhp so it was tempting to take it out but I couldn't have enjoyed riding as much knowing I was on dodgy ground legally.
It was fast enough really and glad I waited the two years out.
