I’ve just eaten a green tea and cherry blossom Kit Kat that a friend bought me in Japan. It was amazing.

Elsewhere I’ve enjoyed stuff like crab curry and seaweed crisps, and in South America you can buy packets with three different types and flavours in. Why don’t we do that?

So what’s the best weird and wonderful combo you’ve had, and would like available here? Drinks also count.

Probably because those things have been tried in the UK and weren't liked. Walkers did a load of 'crazy' flavours a while ago, like fish and chips, lamb and mint, pork and apple, 'Thai curry' and some ridiculous chocolate one.

Also because the stuff we've got is actually just as good anywhere else, you're just excited by glittery new exotic things!

Anything with Sichuan peppers in them. It's the most amazing 'not spicy' spice ever. They have an almost anaesthetic effect and there are crisps with that flavour, and snacky meaty things, and fried potatoey things. etc etc. Sichuan peppers are native to this part of China and are pretty rare everywhere else. I might try to bring a load home when I leave.

It's only boring because it's familiar. They probably feel the same about their own stuff.

I have nothing else to add other than in America a Milky Way is a Mars bar.

Packet of Hula Hoops (red one) + Dairylea triangle. Open triangle, take a Hula Hoop and stick over cheese until the middle of the hoop is full. Eat. Yum. Repeat.

I still stand by chicken dipper and cheese toasty sandwich as well. God, I made terrible food choices at University.

But everything is made better with brown sauce eg cheese on toast.

I'd kill anyone one of you here for the chance to eat these again. I ate 10 packets in one go once. They were amazing.

Ah yes, this would be because when Forrest Mars came to the UK to set up a business, he was told that he'd need to pay £10,000 to register the trademark. A lot of money in 1930. So he used his surname as the trademark instead, which was free.

Also, American chocolate and British chocolate are very different. Before refrigeration, British factories were close enough to the dairy farm to get the milk fresh, whereas it may take most of the day to transport the milk in America over the longer distance, so their chocolate was, and still is, made with soured milk.

And yet, some companies do keep on trying - from the time they opened here in 1974, McDonalds had root beer on the menu for 20 years, despite the fact it tasted like Dettol and no-one bought it.

On the other hand, it took them several trials, over a period of maybe 10 years, to sell banana shakes full time and now it's one of their best sellers.

The supermarkets do sell new and/or 'odd' flavours as trials occasionally. They only continue with the ones that sell. Personally I had 'sweet chilli' crisps but they're sold in many places. So really the reason most of our junk food is boring is that the general public are boring and don't buy enough when these things are on trial.

Everyone's idea of junk food is different to the next. I like those salt & pepper flavour popped rice crisps, and the mini poppadums. I could also munch Asda dried mango by the sackful.
