New bike

Hey guys,
I'm looking at 2 different bikes a Yamaha ybr 125 and a Honda cbf 125
Can someone who's prefebly ridden both both bikes tell me which one they prefer?
Possibly any common problems (except rust)
Any help is appreciated

Dont buy new, you're gonna drop it.

Get a used one for less than 800.

Spend the rest of your money on lessons and fuel.

I wasn't buying new, I've been looking on autotrader and gumtree.
Budget is around up to 1000.
I'll defintely be looking into getting lessons done.

I rode a YBR125 on my first CBT, but found it too small for me, and dangerously under-powered.

I sat on a CBF125, but couldn't find anywhere to put my knees, so didn't attempt to ride it.

Get either one that is in the best condition.

Check all consumables you can, tyres, chain and sprockets - if you have to change them that bargain suddenly looks less a bargain.

Get one that hasn't been fucked about with by the owner, bog standard is king.

Either one will be fine. Both very tough bikes, it will really come down to personal preference.

As people have said, look to get one that will keep you going for as long as possible with no money spent, e.g. chain and sprocket, tires, oil, least corrosion.

Find one that has not been kitted or modded out.

Dont agonise over the choice to much, its not going to be with you forever and you cant go wrong with either.

I had Ybr and loved it as a first bike. And highly recommend it. (still do, looking to sell so pm me if you are interested. You will be left with a good chunk of change from 1000)

At this stage., be sure to invest in decent gear that will last.

Most of all, enjoy getting on two wheels!

I owned a CBF125 for a few years.... not a bad bike. Will do 70 on a good day. Not to uncomfortable for a 125 either. Fuel economy is amazing - Does 115mpg easily. The only problems I had were it burning oil stupidly fast and the rear brake always went saggy (Good old drum brake!). Overall not a bad bike.

I've had a go on a couple YBRs before. Nothing special, very underpowered - Okay for buzzing around town i'd guess!

I've decided to go for a YBR - 2010 model, 9000 miles, going to check it out tomorrow morning.
I did my CBT on a YBR, i thought it was comfortable - I didn't realised until I asked the school what bike they used
I didn't think it was that underpowered to be fair, however, after riding a chinese bike for nearly a year you can see why.
