Invent and build a time machine and travel back and tell yourself to advertise the price as £20. Then kill your old self and create a paradox destroying the universe.

That'll teach the little gonad.

I put a big CRT widescreen TV on scumtree as free to collector. I wrote "stand not included" as I wanted the sheet metal.

Most messages were written by the illiterate, several wanted it delivered, one said they'd take it if I included the stand... One asked if there were batteries in the remote control.

Needless to say it went to the first literate non-pikey who could collect it.

Advertised a double bed for free on gumtree, it was only £150 new and had sat in the spare room for years used a handful of times by guests.
Got rid to make way for the nursery, but it turns out giving stuff away is right pain in the behind. It would have been so much easier to just take it up the tip.

If it`s only a tenner that we`re talking about : why not take a video of you burning it and then send it to him?

I've pretty much given up "giving stuff away" on freecycle. I just leave it out on my front wall and eventually it disappears. Once or twice I have put a sign saying "please help yourself", and occasionally I've just called the council.

There's currently an old broken wooden chair and a piece of carpet out there that nobody seems to have decided they want for over six months now. I might use the carpet to lay down a garden in the front yardy bit, if nothing else it will keep the weeds down, I am planning to just dump a load of soil on top of it then box it all in and grow luxuriant foliage at my front window.

Ooo, that reminds me, there's a solid wooden tabletop three doors down, I must pop along and grab it before someone else does Laughing *awaits cover of darkness* ... Laughing I want it to box my bit of soil in for the aforementioned garden. I'll have to put it out the back till I get back from NZ, so that no cunt steals it out my front garden, though Laughing

Clothes, by the way: if you put them in one of those Cancer Research collection bags, they will have invariably be gone-through by the local scroungers before the collection people even arrive (and clothes accordingly strewn all around the front fence, fucking waste of space scroungers).

rather than phone the council, or get a lift to the tip,

I dismantled my old washing machine in the garden, reused all the bits I could salvage, door for dog bowl, nuts, bolts, fuses etc, used the concrete weights for propping the garden gates open, sawed the frame in half and stamped on it flat, and put that and the the metal drum out the front and gave it to the local scrap collector

Freecycle people aren't all bad, last person gave me some beers in return for a load of top soil. Mr. Green

Say you need to get ride of something like an old fridge freezer that council would charge you to collect these, if you leave it on the pavement and report it as fly tipping then they come and take it away for free. Laughing

My neighbours though that this would work with their sofa....

I got given quite a nice sofa once, carried it halfway home, and we decided it was too heavy.

So wife went off to borrow a sack barrow, and left me sitting on the sofa in the middle of the park reading a paper. Embarassed

The local council have got a phone app for reporting different types of complains to them, the most surprising thing is that stuff actually gets dealt with.

Take a picture, go into the app to select the appropriate category, GPS takes care of telling them the exact location, write a brief description, click the button and there you go job done.

It amuses me that I can fill someone at the councils inbox with pictures of dog eggs. Mr. Green Thumbs Up

In a lot of places, if you leave something metal on the pavement for ten minutes the metal-fairies will have taken it for you anyway.
