This is a common problem, i've seen people riding speedfights with both the mount bits broken so only the cylinder exhaust bolts are holding the whole exhaust on. Just get it welded back on. ____________________

I have had the same problem with my Speedfight too. i was driving one day and next minute all was rattling and i realised my exhaust mount had snapped. i made a bracket out of 5 ml steel and attached it to my stand mounts. i bolted the pipe to this. if you do this method, make sure you support the pipe with TWO bolts otherwise the exhaust uses the single mount as a pivot and the pipe snapped at the manifold. if you decide to get the broken piece replaced. its a part of the casing of the cam shaft, so the engine will need splitting and rebuilding. this is like 60 minutes labour. which ain't cheap. i think this is a popular fault with the speedfights. and if you have a AIR cooled. BEWARE!!!! because in the summer, the piece what snaps off is a part of the fan casing. and it leaves a big hole when not there, and the engine dosen't cool efficiently. my barrel overheated and blew up twice, so i went out and got another Speedfight. L/c... |
