On June 6th at noon from the Comedy Carpet in Blackpool, terminally ill kidney cancer patient Jon Birchall will set off on a solo motorbike ride around mainland Great Britain under the banner, Facing Up 2 Kidney Cancer. Jon is doing this on his Yamaha FJ1200 to raise awareness of early detection of kidney cancer and to raise £50,000 for research into treatments.
Come and join in the start or any part of his ride. More info and the route is available at https://www.facingup2kidneycancer.org . Jon has been given 30 months to live and he wants to spend a lot of that time on his bike and he would love you to join in!

https://apps.charitycommission.gov.uk/Accounts/Ends46%5C0001120146_AC_20130930_E_C.pdf

IN:
Voluntary income £224,194

OUT:
Fundraising expenses and other costs £132,637
Governance costs £27,379

vs

Charitable activities £82,177
...of which...
Patient support £37,981

Very nearly 1/6th of what they raise actually goes to sufferers.

Pretty good going by charity standards.

Most surprised that this simpering plea for our 'hard earned' has not prompted much of a response.

I'd do a coastal tour of the UK in 5 days if someone wants to pay me for the jolly.
